About the Agua Fria Project | Jeddito Yellow Ware | Winslow Orange Ware | Roosevelt Red Ware Ceramics Photo Gallery Winslow Orange WareWinslow Orange Ware includes service types that are companion to Homol’ovi Orange Ware utility types. Initial classifications placed five of the types (Chavez Pass Polychrome, Chavez Pass Black-on-red, Black Ax Plain, Black Ax Polychrome, and Homol’ovi Black-on-red) within the Alameda Red Ware category (Colton and Hargrave 1937). In 1956, Colton redefined this ware as Winslow Orange Ware (Colton 1956; and Hays-Gilpin et al. 1996:53). Winslow Orange Ware usually has variable temper and compacted or polished surfaces. Types within this ware are distinguished by different pastes and design styles.
