Discovery :: Scholarships

Thanks to the generous financial support of the Flagstaff Community Foundation and Forest Highlands Foundation, scholarship funds are available for youth who demonstrate financial need or have extenuating circumstances.* We keep overall program costs as affordable as possible and are working diligently to assure that no child is turned away from Discovery for lack of funds. Scholarship recipients are eligible for assistance for up to two programs each season, with maximum scholarship amounts totaling $375.00.

Scholarship Process

Fill out scholarship application, paying special attention to essay questions. These application questions are for the participant to answer. Please consult with your child prior to filling them out, or if they are able to write, feel free to encourage them to respond to the questions themselves.
Pay a $30 cash/check deposit at time of application to hold place in class. This deposit will be returned on the first day of class and will be retained in the case of a no-show. This deposit amount may be waived if express need is demonstrated.

PLEASE NOTE:

Applicants that do not show up for class may not be eligible to receive a scholarship in future programs.
Applicant is required to confirm participation in program either in person, via email, or over phone, seven days prior to the start of class. If no confirmation is received, the applicant will be dropped from program.

*Extenuating circumstances include situations that may not be reflected in household income, such as unexpected illness or other emergencies.

If the Museum cancels a Discovery program due to inclement weather or insufficient enrollment, then complete payments will be returned and scholarship awards may be transferred to other Discovery programs.

Information provided on your application will remain confidential and will be reviewed only by the Discovery office staff. If you have further questions, please contact the Discovery office at 928-774-5211 ext. 241, or by e-mail. Otherwise, you will be contacted after your application has been reviewed. Applications are reviewed and granted every two weeks starting April 5th, and on a weekly basis starting June 14th.
