Wedding Moccasins

Wedding Moccasins, Shungopovi, First Mesa, MNA catalog #OC2750

Pair of high white buckskin woman's wedding moccasins; each moccasin is made from half a hide, soles separate, heavier hide, sewn on; top of foot piece is made of white buckskin to form the inner tounge; heel wrap portion is seperate, and wraps around lower leg to knee; wide leather straps sewn to leg-wrap portion with thong.

White face; black band across the eyes; eyes vertical rectangles. Down feather ruff. Painting white body and legs; forearms black. Carved kilt, black with three white stars. Painted ankle bands. Bare feet. Braided cord down back. Carved animal tail rear of kilt.
